Virginia and Smart Beginnings Community Profiles
In the spring of 2018, VECF conducted an intensive, four-month Data Capacity Initiative with a cohort of Smart Beginnings organizations with a collective presence in more than 70 jurisdictions throughout Virginia. The primary objective of the VECF Data Capacity Initiative was to strengthen each participant’s data capacity, no matter its current level of development, by adding or refining essential elements of a local/regional early childhood data infrastructure. One of the initiative’s components was the production of a comprehensive Community Early Childhood Demographic and Risk Factor Profile using common data elements, but tailored for each participant’s region, to enhance capacity for data-based needs assessment and priority-setting.
The profile was developed using public data and was produced in two different versions:
